Surgery Options  For arthritis of the hips, knees, shoulder, hands, feet, wrists and elbows, various joint replacement and resurfacing surgeries are available. These include hip replacement, hip resurfacing, knee replacement, MAKOplasty® knee resurfacing, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, ankle fusion surgery and more.

Arthritis Management Programs  If you live in Sacramento, arthritis management isn't far from reach. Mercy Orthopedics provides programs specifically designed to help you manage and control your arthritis pain.

Therapeutic Pool Programs  |  Our pool-based exercise programs offer low-impact group exercises in warm water. The programs are designed for adults who could benefit from and enjoy mild aquatic and gentle aerobic conditioning exercises, particularly individuals with arthritis, fibromyalgia or joint pain.

Arthrobics  |  Arthrobics is a land-based group exercise program for adults managing arthritis and other medical conditions. The three-month sessions are tailored for adults who could benefit from gentle aerobic conditioning exercises, with classes designed to meet your individual health needs to increase strength, endurance and flexibility.

All arthrobic classes are held at the Methodist Outpatient Rehabilitation Center located in the Bruceville Terrace building next to Mercy's Methodist Hospital.

Participants must be able to follow group instruction, as well as exercise independently. Trained instructors, who are supervised and coordinated by one of our licensed physical therapists, teach all wellness programs. Individuals who wish to participate must complete the registration process, have their physician's permission and be able to understand and sign the participation agreement each quarter.

The class takes place Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $30 per month. To register, call (916) 423-5928.

Joint Adventure  |  Joint Adventure is an interactive, community education class designed to help ease joint pain and improve your quality of life.

Joint Adventure is a comprehensive program that includes exercise classes, social activities and education. Under your doctor's care, and working with specially-trained nurses, therapists and other caregivers, patients work through the pain to get back to their active, pain-free lifestyle.

Classes are held the third Friday of every month, from 11:00 a.m. to Noon, at Mercy General Hospital. Upcoming classes are scheduled for May 21, June 18 and July 16.

Class topics include:
  • Causes of joint pain
